What is PRP?
PRP is the abbreviation for a medical method known as Platelet Rich Plasma. That method is based on centrifuging a small amount of blood from the patient in a special tube to resolve it to its elements and inject the platelet rich plasma (PRP) acquired back to the same person.
What is the aim of PRP?
Platelets – in other words, the thrombocytes – are the blood elements that have the “growth factors” that are necessary for restoring the deformed tissues in our body to their natural state. When some sort of damage is inflicted on our tissues, our blood begins a restoring process by canalizing platelets into that tissue. The aim of PRP, in that sense, is to ensure the canalization of more platelets than through normal process. Thus, the deformed tissue is restored faster because platelets acquired through PRP are 2 or 4 times more intense.
How is PRP practiced?
2 or 3 tubes (16-23 ml.) of blood is taken out of the patient and it is resolved to its platelets in centrifuge equipment. Then, the platelets are collected in a tube in the kit and PRP comes out. It is applied to the skin through such methods as filling or mesotherapy. Due its rejuvenating effect, the skin has a more lively and shining outlook just after the application.
Can masks ensure an effect as rejuvenating as mesotherapy?
They can. In that method, PRP is applied through a paper mask instead of filling or mesotherapy as it more practical. Therefore, it shall bring about an effect no matter how it is applied. Besides, PRP can not only be used for rejuvenation but also for persistent scars, open wounds, chin implants etc.
Does PRP aim to ensure healing of wounds? What is the correlation between the rejuvenation of skin and healing of wounds?
Skin gets older due to the fact that it loses some of its physical qualities just as in wounds. Therefore, we imitate the practices of our body in healing wounds as we rejuvenate the skin. For example, we inflict a slight damage on the skin to a limited degree with methods like laser and peeling and use that damage as a triggering force to heal our skin quickly. Afterwards, growth factors are released and healing period begins. Similarly, dermocosmetic products ensure that the substances restructuring our skin or synthetic growth factors initiate a recovery process. Skin itself can ensure the most effective, speedy and natural recovery for it. That is why plasmas are used for triggering that magical power in our veins.
Is it a new method? In what respects is it used?
PRP is only one of the methods for cell recovery. It is not a new method; it is used in a number of areas such as dental implants, plastic surgery, orthopaedics, and healing of persistent wounds. It is anticipated that a number of scientific papers shall be published in use of PRP in chronic pains, tendon damages, and rheumatism in a near future.
How is it applied?
PRP is applied mostly by doctors through implementation kits produced by a biotechnology firm known as RegenLab. Not only can masks containing PRP be used, but also it can be used in mesotherapy or volumising treatments. In general terms, PRP could be used in plastic surgery for face, neck, low-neck, hands, inner legs, arms;
To ensure a quick recovery after methods such as laser / peeling;
To ensure that wrinkles and sags are restored and the skin regains its flexibility and radiance so that the effects of years and UV lights on the skin are removed;
Control the persistent wounds, fissures, and skin damages;
To prevent hair loss by itself or by using it along with other treatment methods…
And in many other domains with efficiency.

Is PRP some sort of stem cell therapy?
Stem cell or cellular therapy means introducing new cells to a damaged organ in order to treat an injury or an illness. Whereas, in PRP treatment, platelets are used for initiating and stimulating the recovery period in a damaged tissue. In that sense, the two methods are different from one another.
Is it a reliable method to process the patient's blood to inject it later on?
PRP method is “autologous”; that is, platelets are taken out of the patient's own blood; in addition, platelets are resolved in sterile and closed kits. In that sense, there is no risk of an outside infection. Besides, nothing is added to those platelets. Therefore, it can be deemed reliable.
How long does it last? Does it necessitate any special condition?
It lasts for 30 minutes approximately. It can be applied easily with no pain inflicted.
Can processes for PRP such as taking blood or resolving platelets be carried out in a laboratory?
All the processes should be carried out in the same environment due to technical and hygienic reasons from taking blood to mesotherapy or mask implementation.
Why do platelets not initiate the rejuvenation process of their own accord given that they circulate in our blood freely?
In fact, platelets perform that function to a certain extent themselves but it is not sufficient for an ageing body. That is why platelets are turned into PRP and applied to areas such as face, neck, and hands.
Is there only one method to acquire PRP?
Acquiring PRP from platelets is related to technical means. First of all, it is important that platelets be not damaged in anyway during that enrichment process. In addition, the enrichment should be limited to a certain extent. For instance, an excessively enriched PRP shall be of no use. Besides, certified products and methods should be used for injecting a blood product back to the patient after processing it. In that sense, RegenLab products have CE label as medical instruments in EU countries and are used worldwide subject to all kinds of tests as to efficiency and reliability.
Is it obligatory to inject PRP?
PRP could not only be injected to the skin through mesotherapy or filling methods but also applied to the skin with the help of a mask. Besides, it is possible to apply it to the skin after mixing it with a special cream.
Is there any predetermined dosage for PRP? How much of it is required? How much of it is applied?
There is no problem of overdose in PRP. All of it could be applied to the skin. In general, 8 mm.s of PRP could be acquired through the use of a mesotherapy kit. It is sufficient to be used in face, neck, low-neck, outer arms, and inner legs.
When is it possible to ensure a positive outcome in PRP?
The skin shall gain a healthy radiance just after the implementation. Later on, there shall be a decline in that radiance to a certain extent; however, after 3 or 4 sessions (that is, after the implementation of 1 cure), a permanent effect is brought about.
How many sessions are necessary for total effect?
Total effect is ensured after 3 or 4 sessions, that is, after the completion of one cure. A permanent radiance and recovery shall be assured in that sense.
Shall the positive effects of that method vanish after a certain period?
It shall not. However, it is necessary to apply the cures every 10-12 months after those 3 or 4 sessions. That shall ensure a permanent rejuvenating effect. That is, one cure consisting of 3 or 4 cures in every 15 days should be applied every year.
What is the most important advantage of PRP?
The rejuvenating effect does not concentrate on certain areas as in filling or other similar methods; it diffuses to a larger part of the skin; and it is more permanent. Positive effects of other methods are prevalent for a certain period whereas the positive effects of PRP are attributed to the person completely. They do not vanish.
Are there any side effects of that method?
A substance (PRP) produced by using the patient’s own blood is injected. The method serves to initiate and trigger the recovery of wounds. Any side effect risk is quite low.
Does PRP inflict pain when applied?
PRP is applied through injection except for masks. The maximum pain is inflicted when taking blood. Mesotherapy with PRP is normally injected to 1.5 mm. deep down the skin; on the other hand, a deeper application is necessary for volumising the skin. However, anaesthetic creams prevent the sense of pain.
Are there any who are not eligible for such method?
Patients with low number of platelets or cancer patients are not eligible for that method.
What can we expect from PRP?
PRP has outstanding qualities so that it can satisfy the expectations of patients for cosmetic ends. That is because:
It is long-lasting;
It rejuvenates and restructures the skin most naturally;
It is applied easily and safely;
I reinforces not only new collagene regeneration but also all vital functions of the skin;
It removes wrinkles and creases not by “filling” them but by “rejuvenating” them.
The healthy radiant outlook after the first application can decline slightly after a certain period of time; successive applications are necessary to that end to ensure a total rejuvenating effect.
The application of the cures every 10-12 months after those 3 or 4 sessions shall ensure a nearly permanent rejuvenating effect.
Frequently Asked Questions about Regen Lab ACR-C kits
1) What is the application number suggested for each patient in treatment cycle and what is the interval for those applications?
2 or 4 treatments are suggested with the intervals of 2 or 4 weeks in each cycle according to the age.
2) When should the patient have a second cycle (cure) after each treatment cycle?
RegenLab suggests that the treatment be carried out every 8 or 10 months.
3) How long does the rejuvenating effect last?
In that method, the skin is rejuvenated biologically; therefore, it has a lasting effect. However, care therapy is necessary due to ageing.
4) Which kind of precautions could be taken to protect doctors or their auxiliary staff from infections or other risks during Regenkit application?
The patient should be treated by a competent doctor in a sterile environment by using a special and sterile kit (Regenkit). In that sense, there is no risk of infection for the doctor, patient, or auxiliary personnel.
5) Is it advisable to combine Regen ACR injections with that of laser, phototherapy, HA injection or Botulinum toxin? Or else should they be applied separately?
No, it is possible to apply them simultaneously. As Regen ACR injection or cellular mask application have antalgesic chracateristics and ensure bio-stimulation of skin regeneration, they can be applied following laser or phototherapy. Yet, ACR has never been applied together with Hyaluronic acid or Botox. Although it is not deemed inconvenient to combine Regen ACR with hylauronic acid, it is not advisable to combine it with Botulinum toxin.
