What is liposuction?
Liposuction is to vacuum the fatty tissue in some part of the body by using thin cannula.

What is the aim of liposuction?
Liposuction is a body shaping operation. It should not be applied for obesity treatment or weight control. The aim is to remove fat resisting diet and exercise. Liposuction is by no means a slimming operation.

Who are appropriate for liposuction? Can everybody have such an operation?
Those with local lipoidosis problems although their weight is ideal or nearly ideal can have liposuction. Skin should be elastic enough for achieving the desired outcome. (For example, an over-aged person with drooping in abdomen as she has given birth a number of times is not suitable for liposuction. Alternative methods are offered in such cases.)

Which parts of the body are suitable for liposuction?
Liposuction could be applied in any part of the body.

Which methods are used for liposuction?
It could be applied under general or local anaesthesia. The method is chosen by taking into account the magnitude of the part it will be applied, the amount of fat that is to be vacuumed, and the general condition of the patient. In both methods, special solutions are applied to the area where liposuction is to be made. Thus, fats could be decomposed easily and haemorrhage risk is reduced. In addition, spasms following the liposuction are eliminated.

Following the operation, the patient is made to wear a special corset. It helps the body adapt into its new condition as it ensures the desired recovery process. Corset should be worn for 4-6 weeks.

Is it possible to use the fat vacuumed with liposuction for other purposes?
They could injected to another part of the body (such as lip thickening, facial rejuvenation, hip enlargement)

Which points are critical after liposuction?
Exercise could be made 4 weeks after liposuction. Special massage is advised after the corset is taken off so that skin can adapt easily.
